Our values
The European Cultural Academy was created by the European Cultural Centre with the wish to unite creative communities, increase visibility, build connections and make a lasting impact on participants career.
Our education approach is based on the following principles:

We advocate for honest and constructive approach to education that makes you more confident and understanding whether it is a leisurely exhibition visit or an important business meeting. We openly discuss artistic, commercial and networking challenges in the creative industries. Our students deserve to know true stories behind big exhibitions and projects. We share real cases and teach you practical skills that make immediate impact on your career.

The Academy brings together high level practitioners from government, academia and business sector. Our faculty includes artists, architects designers, curators, gallerists, and scholars that will help you to build necessary skills and enable you to navigate through competitive industry. Having workshops and discussions with them in Venice is a unique experience.

PROVIDING INSIDER'S EXPERINCE
Venice has an extraordinary concentration of facilities and organizations dedicated to culture. Leveraging our 15- year experience of working in this incredible city, we will guide you to its most alluring locations. Classes take place in historic palazzos, students visit palazzos that are closed to public, private art residences, design and architecture studios.

European Cultural Centre is a Dutch-Italian foundation with offices in Venice, Italy and Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

CURRICULUM
Rene Rietmeyer
Program Coordinator / Contemporary Art
Rene Rietmeyer is president of the European Cultural Centre and Dutch artist mostly known for his own art form of the "Boxes", stimulated by American minimal art and the so-called new abstraction. He has organized events with artists such as Yoko Ono, Lawrence Weiner, Hermann Nitsch, Marina Abramovic and Mike Parr. He uses his vast network of artists and architects as well as his experience in education to coordinate the curriculum and lead strategic projects at the Academy.

James Taylor-Foster
Program Coordinator / Contemporary Architecture and Design
Contemporary curator at ArkDes, Sweden's national centre for architecture and design. Formerly the European editor-at-large at ArchDaily, the world's largest online platform for architecture and urbanism, he has also practised architecture in the UK and The Netherlands. In 2016 he co-curated the Nordic Pavilion at the 15th Biennale Architettura di Venezia. James carefully crafted the Academy programs and selected the best lecturers for you.

Director
Maria is in charge of strategy, programming and partnerships. Her mission is to help participants built necessary skills to succeed in the competitive fields of art and architecture.

Simone Stunz
External Relations and Student Experience Manager
Simone is your first point of contact online and will welcome you in Venice! Before joining the Academy, she initiated an architecture competition and worked in external relations at Unseen Amsterdam. Courtney Cardini
Program Organizer
Courtney is an alumna of the Academy's Contemporary Art Program. As the Program Coordinator she is working with students and connecting through social media. Prior to joining the Academy, she was completing her Masters Degree in Arts Management at The American University of Rome.
