About the course
July 23-28 | August 20-25
The course is created for both design lovers and professionals. It starts with a discussion on the significance of design and its role in daily life. Each day is dedicated to a specific subject such as Design of an object (Venetian glass), Colour in Design (visit to a colour library), Design and the built environment (visit to the Biennale). We end up with a practical session on how to create successful projects and enhance your career in the industry.

10.00 - 10.30 Welcome breakfast in a historic Venetian palazzo. 10.30 - 11.30 Meeting with curators of the Venice Design Exhibition. Guided tour. 12.00 - 13.00 Italian lunch at Cafe Koffler. 13.00 - 15.30 Design: the world around us. The significance of design at all scales, and what it means for daily life. 16.00 - 17.00 Prosecco and spritz in a local bar (optional).
10.00 - 12.00 Lecture: La Triennale di Milano. 12.00 - 13.00 Lunch time. 13.40 - 14.30 Visit to the panoramic terrace of Fondaco dei Tedeschi. 15.00 - 16.30 Visit to Olivetti Showroom on St. Mark Square, an iconic space created by Carlo Scarpa.
10.00 - 14.00 Visit to Giardini della Biennale 14.00 - 15.00 Lunch time 15.00 - 17.00 Trip to Le Stanze del Vetro Glass facility on San Giorgio Island.
10.00 - 12.00 Advanced understanding of colour. Colour language evolution from 50s to 2020. 12.00 - 13.00 Lunch time. 13.00 - 16.00 Grammar of colour language.Workshop at the Orsoni Library.
10.00 - 13.00 Studio Visit: Meet the designer Omri Revesz. 13.00 - 14.00 Lunch time. 14.00 - 16.00 Reflection session and discussion of personal projects. 16.00 - 16.30 Certificate ceremony and prosecco. 16.30 - 17.35 Boat tour around Venice.

You will meet international experts from all over the world. Here are some of the Design week lecturers.
Francesca Valan is an Industrial Designer who is specialized in the use of colour. She studied Industrial Design at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Milan. She is a founding member of Gruppo del Colore, an Italian organisation which promotes the culture of colour.
Omri Revesz is a designer based in Venice. He is the winner of the most prestigious Italian Design recognition of ADI Design Index AND Riva1920 first prize. His works have been exhibited in Triennale Di Milano, Biennale di Venezia, Maison&Objet Paris, Gallery S. Bensimon. Omri Revesz currently teaches Industrial Design at IUAV University of Venice.
