ABOUT THE COURSE
European Cultural Academy organises an artistic workshop to create a collective piece of art. We think of it as a collaborative project to build relationships between our alumni and make something beautiful. We welcome artists, curators, architects, designers and creative minds that want to contribute.

And here is a twist: once the project is created we have a crazy idea to bring to the Burning Man project and show it on the Playa this year.

COURSE LEADER
We have found a perfect crazy person to help us with this project!
Andrew Johnstone is an artist and a key player at the Burning Man. For 2005 - 2018, Andrew was honoured with the title "Design Steward of the Man" and has led the design of the Man Base, the highly stylised base on which the man stands. The Independent called him 'the visionary who helps create the most iconic moment of each year's event'. Andrew specialises in large scale art projects, murals, 3D computer designs, and geo maps. You can see his work in the image above.

For whom?
Come yourself, invite people that you know and like. We will do the same.
The word "collaborative" is vitally important. Although building the Man is a huge project under extreme conditions, we are able to accomplish the impossible by working as a unit, and relying on the support, imaginations and strengths of each other... the "hive mind", a syndicate of creativity without rank or ego.
When I was a young artist, I pressed a professor for a definition of "art" that I could carry with me. He replied that art is "the inexpressible, made unforgettable".
I look forward to meeting and working with you all. It is our moment to do something unforgettable.

Warmly,

Andrew Johnstone, course leader
