FRAMING ECOLOGIES,
TALES of VENICE
Since the turn of the century, large scale simulations of the global climate have been constructed and utilised to determine the scale and planetary impact of the climate crisis. These methods are accurate; yet, they fail to capture the social realities that environmental crises entail. Framing Ecologies, Tales of Venice explores forms of storytelling and narration focusing on environmental trauma, in a bid to account for communities (both human and other-than-human) that are systematically ignored by contemporary climate simulations. Taking the city of Venice and its lagoon as a case in point, we will produce an accumulative archive of traces, memories and stories that give voice to the environmental trauma registered within the site.
